Best of MV Deutschland Garden Tours

Between 2006 and 2014 I had the privilege of designing and leading garden tours on the German cruise liner MV Deutschland. As a 22,400 tonne vessel Deutschland could visit places that larger ships could not reach, we anchored off islands, in fjords and docked in out of the way places. The garden cruises were not just about botany but also about the landscape, the geology, the people, the towns and about having fun. From the Islands of Italy to the mountains of Morocco we explored the western Mediterranean, ventured across to the Caribbean and across to China, Taiwan and Korea learning and appreciating cultures through the gardens. It was a golden time that came to an abrupt end at the beginning of 2015. All that is left are the photographs, films and the memories of a ship that was far more than just a means of transportation and a crew that became part of our extended family.
